About Me

My Skills & Expertise

When consulting with a shop, I work my way through the way a job flows.  I work with each department starting in the art department, followed by the screen department, and finally in the production department.

My background is as an artist, but I have worked in every department, having owned an automated screen printing facility.  I also owned a screen printing supply house, and am very familiar with most of the equipment and products available in the industry.

Some of the requests I have received follow:

1-Work with new start-up companies that need assistance in choosing products, laying out their space and getting trained so they are able to produce quality prints and have systems in place on the first day they are open.

2-Train staff how to use some of the new inks or techniques.  Many staff members are never shown how to design, separate, choose the mesh and squeegee and print some of the new and old specialty inks on the market.

3-Evaluate existing shops: many shops want an evaluation of their layout, procedures, work flow and answers about their efficiency, and if things can be done better, faster and more profitably. Sometimes it’s difficult to see the forest through the trees. Therefore, having a fresh pair of eyes to check out everything that goes into a shop is important.

4-Existing shops: as a shop grows, often there is doubt about which piece of equipment will have the most benefits and fastest pay back. When evaluating a shop, it’s important to point out which products are not performing to the necessary standards for growth and/or quality and what can be purchased to combat this.

5-Instituting systems and procedures is an important part of running a business.  Often, it is difficult for someone in a shop to have the time or knowledge to put together everything from “Standard Operating Procedures” to a “Quality Control or Quality Assurance Program” or an “Incentive Program” to keep employees motivated.

6-I conduct seminars and workshops at industry trade shows and for manufacturers and supply houses throughout the world and have been doing that since 1980.
